Let’s talk sun protection
So, now you know the harmful effects of the UV rays and how that can lead to premature aging of your skin. That’s why we suggest you think seriously about sun protection – there’s no reason why you would want your skin to look older than your actual age, is there? Here’s what you can do to protect your skin:
Think coverage: Avoid exposing your skin to the sun’s rays unnecessarily. Make clothing choices that ensure your skin is covered. Wear a trendy hat or scarf, carry an umbrella and put cool glasses when stepping out in the sun.
Make sunscreen a beauty must-have: When stepping out, whether there’s a bright sun or grey clouds in the sky, put on your sunscreen. It is a must. Apply sunscreen to dry skin at least 15 to 20 minutes before going. This allows the sunscreen to form a protective layer on the skin. For regular use stick one with SPF 25 to 35.
Apply sunscreen the right way: A blob of sunscreen about the size of a Marie biscuit is enough to cover all the exposed parts of your body. You should wear this over your moisturiser and under your makeup. Reapply sunscreen after swimming or sweating.
Protect lips and eyes from sun damage: Lips and the undereye area are prone to sun damage. It’s common to notice fine lines around the areas, dryness and pigmentation. So, use a lip balm with SPF to keep dryness at bay. Similarly, a good under eye cream should be part of your skincare regime to fight the ravages of sun damage.
Keep skin hydrated and nourished from inside: To undo the dryness caused by the UV rays, you need to plan your water intake through the day. Keep yourself hydrated and your skin protected from inside by drinking around 3 litre of water daily. Make hydration interesting by having freshly squeezed juices, fruit infused water, green tea etc.
Whether the sun’s shining bright in the sky or hidden behind the cloud; whether the climate is hot or cold; you need to keep your skin nourished and protected. And what’s better than to do it with creams and lotions made with natural, sustainable ingredients minus the harmful chemicals. To pick up good-for-skin products head to our store Clean Beauty Booth.
